are following breaking news out of downtown oakland. police are investigating a fatal shooting. christien kafton is live for us. >> reporter: let me tell you this is a large crime scene. it's spread out over five blocks here in downtown oakland. right now alameda county coroners office is on scene here just about to load the victim into a van to remove him from this scene. there was a very expensive sports car just about seven or eight minutes ago that expensive sports car was towed out of the area. we have video of what the scene looked like earlier. police say they responded to the scene around 3:00 this morning and found the dead man in the street with numerous shell casings around him. and there is another scene just about a block away with more shell casings there and a half block away again that very expensive sports car. it looked like ans aton martin vintage. that sports car is certainly part of this investigation. we saw investigators looking over it with flashlight and trying to get a little bit more information about that. as mike said a couple moments ago, this shooting happened when

's identity. >>> authorities say a car full of teenagers crashed in oakland this morning while on the run from highway patrol. it began around 1:00 this morning. they tried to pull over the older model toyota sedan because they suspected the driver was drunk. the car eventually plowed in to a fence at west grand avenue and campbell streets. there were five teenagers in the car. the injuries ranged from minor to serious. >>> firefighters are investigating a suspicious fire at independence high school. they saw flames burning the extd ing inside. firefighters quickly knocked down the fire in less than an hour. no one was hurt. investigators are still trying x tent of the damage to the school. >>> a fire last night in campbell displaced an unknown number of senior residents. the fire broke out at about 10:30 p.m. at wesley manner on hamilton avenue. santa clara county firefighters evacuated those living on the 12th floor. no reports of injuries. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. >>> gilroy police arrested a man and are looking for two others in a bar fight stabbing. officers were

'll be doing some critical work on the new oakland airport connector kron 4's charles clifford shows us what it will mean for drivers. >> reporter: this is a google earth map. starting saturday morning, bart will begin installing new railways over instate 880...here... just west of hegenberger road. this is part of the ongoing work to complete the new oakland airport connector. in order to finish the work, crews will first need to shutdown the two lefthand lanes of north bound 880 starting at 11am on saturday morning. that closure will last all day on saturday. then from 1am until 6am on sunday morning, caltrans will completely shutdown all northbound lanes of 880 at hegenberger road. the southbound lanes will remain open. cars travelling north can detour around the closure by first exiting 880 at hegenberger road. then they will have to turn left onto edes avenue, cross over hegenberger and continue along coliseum way. they will then drive past oracle arena and the coliseum before merging back onto northbound 880 just past 66th avenue. now this weekend's closures, will be repeated the follo

of a massive manhunt. investigators say he killed three people including oakland rapper kenneth cherry. police say harris fired into the rapper's maserati on the las vegas strip last week causing a fiery chain reaction crash. the maserati slammed into a taxi which burst into flames killing the driver and his passenger. investigators say harris argued with cherry earlier in the parking area of a hotel. >> we believe shortly after the incident that occurred near las vegas, mr. harris was a fleeing felon. he left las vegas shortly after this event occurred. now, when exactly he left, i'm not going to go into that, as well. but what we do know is he did leave las vegas pretty rapidly. >> reporter: police had already found and talked to three women who were in harris' range rover the night of the shooting. police say harris, a self- described pimp, has an extensive violent criminal history including robbery, sexual assault and kidnapping. the district attorney did not say if he will seek the death penalty but he said it will be considered. >> i can't ima
